The state now requires all Admin Course Students to complete all four CBRF classes (Standard Precautions; First Aid/Choking; Fire Safety and Medication Administration) and two new courses only offered by UWGB.
DHS 83.15 outlines the requirements for a CBRF Administrator in the state of Wisconsin. The administrator of a CBRF must be at least 21 years of age and exhibit the capacity to respond to the needs of the residents and manage a CBRF. The administrator must also have any one of the following:
- An associate degree or higher from an accredited college in a health care related field
- A bachelor’s degree in a field other than in health care from an accredited college and one year experience working in a health care related field having direct contact with one or more of the client groups identified under s. DHS 83.02 (16)
- A bachelor’s degree in a field other than in health care from an accredited college and have successfully completed an assisted living administrator’s training course approved by the department or the department’s designee
- At least 2 years’ experience working in a health care related field having direct contact with one or more of the client groups identified under s. DHS 83.02 (16) and have successfully completed an assisted living administrator’s training course approved by the department or the department’s designee
- A valid nursing home administrator’s license
Our state-approved course provides instruction on:
- Leadership and Management Skills
- Resident Care and Services
- Resident Rights, Advocacy and Legal Issues
- Physical Environment / Life Safety / Human Resources Management
- Financial Management
The course is taught over a period of two consecutive work weeks (Monday – Thursday each week) for a total of 60-hours of instruction. At the end of each week, the participants will complete an open-book test covering the material learned.
This course is appropriate for those who may own, lease, manage, operate or provide consultation for a Community Based Residential Facility in the State of Wisconsin.
